Geography Extended Essay

A Geography EE needs a sharply geographic research question, evidence that allows spatial analysis, and a manageable scale. The strongest projects use geographic concepts and methods to build an argument rather than simply describing a place or issue.

A useful starting sequence

Move from a broad interest to a question that is specific enough to investigate with geographic evidence.

• Choose a genuinely geographic issue
• Narrow the location and scale
• Turn the topic into an arguable research question
• Decide what evidence would answer it
• Plan primary and/or secondary data collection
• Build analysis around patterns, processes and perspectives
